Building a multilingual website

A useful language version needs its own content, navigation and working customer journey.

Start with the audience

Identify the countries and languages you actually serve. List the services, pages and contact options visitors need. Decide who can answer enquiries in each language before inviting them to contact you.

Give every language a complete journey

Translate headings, navigation, form labels, error messages and confirmation pages. Review terminology with someone who knows your business and the target language. A translated homepage with Dutch booking instructions leaves an unfinished journey.

Connect the language versions

Use separate language URLs and matching titles and descriptions. Link equivalent pages so switching language preserves the subject. Google documents hreflang for connecting localized versions; it does not guarantee a ranking or traffic level.

Agree the scope and maintenance

MAAS multilingual projects start at €5,750 excluding VAT; the actual proposal depends on pages, languages and functionality. Agree translation ownership, testing and future updates. A new service or changed price should be reviewed in every language before publication.
